About Coach

Amy Haberman is a Level 1 CrossFit Trainer. She grew up in Wisconsin where she kept busy playing soccer, basketball, and softball throughout her youth and went on to compete at the collegiate level in soccer.  More importantly, it was in the great state of beer and cheese that she met and married her husband Mark and started their family, welcoming their daughter Alyssa in 2007.  In 2013, they relocated to Florida, for Amy’s position with the University of Florida College of Engineering.

Having been an athlete her entire life, it was hard for Amy to adjust to full-time working mom life. Fitness dropped lower and lower on her priority list, and having had a long surgical history from torn ACLs and continuing to compete in sports took its toll. So, as an adult, she tried to “take it easy” as countless doctors would look at her MRIs and X-rays and would tell her to swim, bike, or walk. But she found those things boring, so she avoided the activity altogether. She didn’t think she’d ever feel like an athlete again. Until she found CrossFit.

Amy came to CrossFit by way of Olympic lifting. After succumbing to the “don’t be too hard on your knees” mantra; she took inventory and deciding weightlifting was more her jam than swimming or biking. She joined Gator CrossFit and attended the Barbell classes 3 times per week for 9 months, and never once did CrossFit. She would see the members doing some crazy workout like Fran or Murph and would think “No thank you!” But, in early 2018, the gym participated in this little thing called “The CrossFit Open.” And she watched what that did to her gym community. She showed up every week to watch her gym fam do the Open workouts and she came away more and more inspired. After seeing the community support, encouragement, and sheer drive and determination of the athletes, she knew she had to get in on that! These were all the things she had loved about team sports that were missing from her life. So, literally, the Monday after The Open was over, Amy started attending the group WODs, bought a pair of Reebok Nanos, and never looked back. Now, having competed in 5 Opens and 3 competitions, she proudly calls herself a CrossFitter.

Now, as a strong and fit 40+ year-old, Amy is a big believer in how CrossFit can change people’s lives. In her words, “You aren’t too old and it’s never too late!” Her entire family is now active in CrossFit and Alyssa competes on the Girl's Weightlifting team at Buchholz High School (class of ’25).

Outside of coaching CrossFit, Amy is a senior consultant at Huron Consulting Group where she works with clients in Higher Education to improve their business operations. She has her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and a Master's in Management from the University of Florida.
